Our fleet

We own it. We maintain it. We deliver it. With over 79 excavators and a massive range of specialized plant, our fleet is the engine room of the South Island.

Massive scale with absolute control

Unlike many contractors, all our plant and equipment is 100% PSE-owned.

This ensures responsive mobilisation, optimal productivity, and zero delays caused by rental availability. Our fleet is equipped with cutting-edge GPS machine control, enabling millimetre-level accuracy in grading and excavation. This data-driven approach optimises project timelines and eliminates material wastage.

FAQ

Have questions about our fleet capabilities? Here are the answers to the most common things clients want to know before work begins.

Why does PSE own 100% of its fleet instead of renting?

Control and certainty. Unlike many contractors, all our plant and equipment is 100% PSE-owned and maintained. This ensures responsive mobilisation, optimal productivity, and zero delays caused by rental availability. Because we own the assets, we guarantee they arrive on-site in peak condition and ready to perform.

What is the scale and variety of your machinery?

We own and maintain a massive, modern fleet of over 79 excavators (ranging from 1.8T to 49T), motor scrapers, dozers, and 10 dump trucks. We also have 21 rollers, 6 water carts, and specialised gear including graders, telehandlers, and on-site crushing and shredding equipment.

How does your GPS technology improve project outcomes?

We utilise advanced GPS and machine control systems on our excavators, graders, and dozers. This allows for millimetre-level accuracy in grading and excavation, which minimises over-excavation, reduces material wastage, improves fuel efficiency, and optimises project timelines.

How do you ensure fleet reliability on remote South Island sites?

Because we own 100% of our fleet, we have complete control over its maintenance. We have fully equipped workshops across the South Island and an in-house team of diesel mechanics who run regular maintenance and reliability programmes to ensure optimal performance and minimise downtime, even in remote locations.

What measures are in place to reduce the fleet's environmental impact?

We invest in the latest Euro 6 low-emission engines across our new trucks and excavators to drastically lower our carbon footprint. Additionally, our fleet telematics and GPS machine control systems optimise routing and minimise fuel consumption and over-excavation. We also ensure all waste oils and filters from our workshops are collected and recycled.
